Behind the Delivery of SeaNet’s New 53-Metre Superyacht

Episode One: The Maiden Voyage Begins

The Maiden Voyage Begins

Episode One

At SeaNet SuperYachts, we believe that exceptional yacht ownership begins long before the first journey. It begins with the vision, expertise and commitment required to take a yacht from concept to a fully operational home on the water.

In a new four-part video series with David Seal, SeaNet SuperYachts invites viewers behind the scenes of a milestone few ever have the opportunity to witness: the delivery of a brand-new 53-metre superyacht.

Filmed in Viareggio, Italy, the first episode follows the final and most demanding moments before the yacht begins her maiden voyage to Malta.

More than a delivery day

Taking delivery of a superyacht is very different from collecting a new car. It is the transition from a complex new-build project to a fully functioning yacht, ready to welcome her owners and guests on board.

The yacht had been constructed at a facility in Pisa and was due to commence sea trials. However, an unexpected issue with one of the lifting bridges on the canal delayed her departure for a full month. Until the bridge was repaired, the yacht could not leave the canal to begin the final stages of testing.

By the time our team arrived in Viareggio, the schedule was set: departure for Malta at 4:00 p.m. on 30 May.

What followed was a fascinating and honest look at the reality behind a superyacht handover.

The final hours before departure

In the final days and hours before departure, the yacht was still a hive of activity. Shipyard teams were completing final cleaning, polishing and detailing. Crew members were loading equipment, provisions and operational supplies late into the evening. Technical checks continued across the vessel, while essential safety drills ensured the crew were fully prepared for their first passage together.

For the crew, this was the beginning of a 39-hour journey on a newly delivered 53-metre yacht. For SeaNet, it was the culmination of extensive planning, new-build support and operational preparation.

The episode also highlights an important distinction in the delivery process: the line between work that must be completed before handover and the warranty support that continues after delivery. A yacht may be delivered, but the attention to detail does not stop there.

From shipyard to superyacht experience

A successful delivery is about far more than leaving the dock under the yacht’s own power. It is about ensuring that every system, service and operational detail is ready for the lifestyle ahead.

SeaNet SuperYachts supports owners throughout this process, from new-build development and delivery preparation to crew, technical, financial and hospitality management. Our role is to create the structure behind effortless ownership, allowing every moment on board to be enjoyed with complete confidence.

This first episode captures the atmosphere, precision and teamwork required to bring a new yacht to life. It is the beginning of her maiden voyage from Viareggio to Malta—and the beginning of a new chapter for her owners.
